FIbromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue

Finding Relief for Fibromyalgia in Kissimmee, FL

Fibromyalgia (FM) seems to be getting more and more prevalent. It affects up to an estimated twenty million people in the United States. The symptoms of fibromyalgia are widespread pain, chronic fatigue, irregular sleep patterns, and problems with memory and thinking ability (sometimes called brain fog). Because no particular cause has been determined, finding a treatment that works for everyone can become quite difficult. Some of the hardest things to cope with for fibromyalgia sufferers are insomnia and the pain caused by inflammation.

More and more patients and doctors are looking for natural treatment regiments for those suffering from FM. A popular trend as of late is that of using supplements to reduce inflammation. It is important to note, however, that many of these supplements are unregulated and have not been proven to be effective.

Another area that is actually helpful is the recommendation to keep a food journal. Often, food groups can cause flair-ups of fibromyalgia. Some culprits are grains containing gluten (wheat, pasta, bread, crackers) and dairy products. While recognizing what these are and working at avoiding them can help with FM attacks, the underlying cause is still not being addressed. What is this?

The Root Cause of Fibromyalgia

At Pancake Wellness Center, we understand the connection between a neck misalignment and the symptoms of fibromyalgia. If a misalignment occurs in the top bone of the neck called the atlas, or C1 vertebra, this can cause the central nervous system to malfunction. When this occurs, the body and brain do not communicate properly. This negatively impacts the body causing a number of health issues, such as fibromyalgia and inflammation. This is due to the fact that neurological functions are not working at their optimum. Therefore, the body sends signals to the brain about pain, and the brain interprets them as if there was a lot of pain happening when in actuality there is very little or none at all.

However, there is hope! We are trained to find these misalignments and correct them using the latest technology and techniques. We have seen much success in our own patients, as well as documented cases, that prove that this does help ease the pain of fibromyalgia. Many patients report a decrease in symptoms, with some having their pain go away entirely.
