How Kissimmee, FL Residents Are Coping with Vertigo Naturally

Vertigo is the sensation that the person or the things around him are spinning when there is no actual movement. It is often referred to as dizziness, but it is not the same thing. The cause remains under debate, making it extremely hard to diagnose and care for.

Vertigo is very common, affecting up to 10% of people. Over age 40, that number jumps to 40%. During a recent decade, vertigo was responsible for 2.5% of visits to the emergency department. Most people are diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, which makes up 90% of all vertigo cases.

When visiting a physician about vertigo, the most common suggestions are:

  • Simple lifestyle and dietary changes
  • Injections to the inner ear
  • Prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Surgery

The NY Times reported that due to the number of new drugs for vertigo that are being introduced into the market, it seems as if the current drugs are not doing their job. Doctors are beginning to change their minds about caring for spinning through the above-mentioned ways. According to recent research, a more natural and less invasive option may work well for a majority of people. What is this natural way to cope with vertigo that is entering the health care scene?

How Proper Neck Alignment Helps Vertigo Patients

A study involving 31 patients in Germany revealed that 20 of them had a misalignment of the upper neck – particularly the C1 and C2 vertebrae. There is much evidence that supports the link between this type of misalignment and vestibular disorders such as spinning. Here at Pancake Wellness Center, we have been specially trained to help correct this type of misalignment.

By using a gentle technique, we encourage the bones to move back into the original position. This is done without popping or forcing the spine into alignment. The body then begins to repair the damage done, leading to a reduction in vertigo symptoms and sometimes the elimination of it completely.
