Migraine/Headache

How Proper Spinal Alignment Alleviates Headaches

Headaches are no fun to deal with. The current trend is for patients to seek natural, long-term solutions.  Does such an option really exist? According to a large collection of case studies involving headache patients, upper cervical chiropractic care delivers real results.

What makes this type of chiropractic different? For one thing, there is no popping or cracking of the neck or spine. The focus is on using a gentle method to correct a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae that may be the source of headache pain. If the atlas or axis – the top two bones of the vertebrae – are misaligned by even ¼ of a millimeter, the entire body can suffer due to the fact that the brainstem is located in this area.

The brainstem is the communication highway between the body and the brain. If function is hindered because of a cervical misalignment, negative changes to flow of blood and cerebrospinal fluid are seen and can lead to nerve problems and other issues, including headaches.

After correcting this problem, which often results from whiplash-type injuries, patients find that the body begins repairing the damage. Blood and cerebrospinal fluid flow can be restored to normal. More than 90% of patients who have had upper cervical adjustments report seeing positive results.

Better Headache Care Than Prescription Drugs

Why is this method of care superior to the use of prescription drugs? For one thing, upper cervical chiropractic care comes with no serious side effects. Many medications have the following side effects:

  • Vertigo or dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Weakness
  • Jaw, neck, and throat pain
  • Burning or tingling sensations

Instead of dealing with the negative effects of medications that provide mere temporary relief, we encourage you to come and see us at Pancake Wellness Center. We are happy to provide patients with long-lasting results that lead to improved overall health and wellbeing.
