Ways to Manage the Pain of Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is known for widespread aching and stiffness, inability to sleep well, and extreme tiredness. It can cause a person to miss out on simple day-to-day activities and special occasions. There are some things that a person can do at home to help alleviate some of the daily aches and pains. These are:

  • Avoid getting cold as this aggravates the condition
  • Work at reducing stress as much as possible
  • Engage in gentle, routine aerobic exercise such as walking, taking a swim, or using a stationary bike
  • Try to get as much sleep as the body needs
  • Get into a good routine of daily stretching using a slow and gentle approach

These suggestions have been proven to help reduce the pain of fibromyalgia. However, it is important to address the underlying cause of fibromyalgia to see a real reduction in symptoms. The best way to do this is to schedule an appointment to visit an upper cervical chiropractor.

Fibromyalgia Linked to Spinal Misalignments

The top bone of the neck, called the C1 vertebra or atlas bone, is vital to a person’s health. It is responsible for protecting the brainstem. The brainstem is the part of the body that sends signals to and from the brain and body. If the atlas bone misaligns, it can place pressure or stress on the brainstem hindering the signals being sent. Therefore, the brain may be getting signals that there is extreme pain, when, in fact, there is little or no pain. This leads to symptoms of fibromyalgia.

At Pancake Wellness Center, we employ a safe and effective technique that does not require popping or twisting of the spine. We use the Atlas Orthogonal technique to perform a low force correction that allows the bones to realign themselves naturally. This kicks in the healing properties of the body, and the tissue and muscle that was damaged are then repaired. This leads to proper signals being sent once again. Many have seen their fibromyalgia go away completely.

One case study involved a 31-year-old suffering from fibromyalgia. She saw her symptoms begin to decrease after only two months of care. After 5 atlas corrections, she no longer needed medication to relieve her fibromyalgia.
